The film "This Is How We Walk on the Moon" was produced by Johanna Billing in Edinburgh during a residency program at Collective gallery. The Program was called 1 Mile "a three-year programme introducing groups and individuals who live or work within a one mile radius of the Collective gallery to artists to make work of mutual interest.“
Johanna checked the local music scene and invited members of local bands as Johnny Lynch of Pictish Trail or the Edinburgh concert promoter Emily Roff to learn how to sail a boat. The film is part documentary part music clip and premiered at documenta 12 in Kassel in 2007.
Title and title song are based on Arthur Russell’s song "This Is How We Walk on the Moon". For the Record Release Party we will screen the video and guest djs Katja Eichbaum and Schorsch Kamerun will spin records.
